christmas craft for kids

Today I plan on making ornaments with my little ones that they can give as gifts. I’ll have to upload a photo when we are all done. These ornaments are called cookie dough ornaments because thats basically how you make them lol. Super easy and fun and you only need a few things that most have on hand anyways. Here is the recipe for the dough:

1 cup of flour

1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons of salt

1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons of HOT tap water

Combine the the flour and salt in a mixing bowl then slowly add the water kneading it as you would with bread dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.

Roll out and use cookie cutters to form desired shapes and let dry and harden. This will take 1-5 days depending on the thickness of the dough.  I try for 1/4 inch thick. Make sure that you use a knife to create a hole on top for a ribbon.

When your shapes are all dry and set, let the kids paint them however they like. Then tie a ribbon on top so it can hang on the tree.

Kids can give these out as gifts to loved ones, afterall who doesn’t cherish a homemade gift made from the heart of a child. Have fun making them!
